While Haiti houses deep beauty, rich culture, and pristine landscapes it is also home to years of political instability, poverty, and natural disasters. This has left much of the country living below the poverty line, suffering from a lack of education, and economic opportunities. Your trip to Haiti will help provide countless job opportunities for the island nation and while we wish for every participant on our of our tours to enjoy all that Haiti has to offer, we also wanted to provide an opportunity to give back. At its core HAC-Haiti is a grassroots community development organization located in Croix des Bouquets, Petit Goave, and Les Cayes. We run a primary school, English Language school, small business training program, public health programs and a teacher training program. Participants will get the opportunity to visit HAC-Haiti’s Croix des Bouquets location, work in the primary school, and interact with the English Language students during the beginning of their tour. Offering opportunities to connect with some of the future leaders of Haiti and standing in solidarity with the island nation as they continue to build back a better and more empowered Haiti.
The Haitian American Caucus- Haiti logistically supports volunteers traveling to Haiti to support our programs, further our mission throughout rural Haiti, and contribute to change in the country through experience and exposure to community development activities for underserved and marginalized populations. We provide internships or volunteer opportunities, which provide opportunities for volunteers to become involved in the programs we help facilitate as well as assist in our outreach activities. Logistical and in country support is funded through individual volunteer donations to the organization. Volunteers pay for their accommodation expenses while at HAC-Haiti and are not compensated for their activities in Haiti.
We provide accommodation (housing, meals, and transportation) for volunteers traveling to Haiti to assist in our programs
We provide volunteer opportunities and service projects in education, economic development, and public health for individuals, interns, and groups traveling to Haiti to help us fulfill our exempt purposes. We provide cultural excursions and trips for volunteers to engage with other non-profit organizations working in Haiti.
